But they love everything as long as they’re doing it together. (Especially road trips, TV & movies, and game nights!) |
Jameson & MaryBeth’s courtship — like most elements of their relationship — was unconventional. They were inseparable from the moment they met, and moved in together after only three weeks (counting one week he was out of town). Jameson knew he’d found the girl for him when friends expressed concern that things might be moving a bit fast, and MaryBeth replied, “You take things slow, and I’ll fall in love, and in 50 years let’s see who’s happier.”
Jameson & MaryBeth have always preferred to follow their own path, and it’s from this mindset that their wedding theme: “Suck it, universe!” sprung forth.
What follows is an abridged history of Jameson & MaryBeth:
January 1978 | Jameson is born. |
November 1981 | A three-year-old Jameson notices that things are suddenly brighter as, across town, MaryBeth is brought into the world. |
March 2004 | Having lived in Virginia, Michigan, and Tennessee, MaryBeth moves back to Florida from New Orleans, in search of new experiences. |
January 2006 | Having attended college in California and spent a decade there making great friends and designing innumerable websites, Jameson moves back to Florida to spend time near family. |
June 2007 | Positively fed up with every online dating site he’d tried (last count, over a dozen), Jameson creates a profile on plentyoffish.com on a whim, and writes a simple, honest profile instead of straining to make himself sound like a catch. |
2007–2009 | The vast majority of contact Jameson receives through his profile comes from ladies in their 40s and 50s who are joined in their profile photos by no fewer than three cats. |
January 2009 | MaryBeth browses the site and writes Jameson a response to his profile. Over the weekend, they exchange longer and longer e-mail messages, and soon they are chatting online late into the night. |
Feb 4, 2009 | Two days before the first date they had planned, Jameson & MaryBeth are too excited to wait, so she drives to visit him after work. |
Feb 6, 2009 | Jameson & MaryBeth finally have their first date! By this point, they have spent fewer than five non-working hours apart since they met. |
Feb 8, 2009 | In violation of every set of dating rules ever published, Jameson tells MaryBeth that he loves her within the first week of the relationship. (In his defense, she was doing something very nice at the time.) |
Feb 14, 2009 | MaryBeth will never forget the look on Jameson’s face when she decided to tell him she loved him, too. Wedding plans were instantly discussed, and the theme (“Suck it, universe!”) was born. |
Feb 19, 2009 | Jameson leaves for a week-long west coast trip that had already been planned, giving MaryBeth a perfect opportunity to come to her senses and walk away, returning to her normal life. |
Feb 27, 2009 | MaryBeth fails to take the initiative, and instead the couple move into Jameson’s condo together. With a few notable exceptions, their tastes in TV align, and no one is forced to fight over the TiVo. |
May 2009 | Jameson joins MaryBeth and her mother for a Memorial Day trip to Louisiana, where her brother Michael is among the fallen soldiers honored. Jameson is excited to meet Michael’s son Trey for the first time. |
August 2009 | With the support of his parents and MaryBeth, Jameson enrolls in Animation Mentor, the online animation school, to pursue his dream of becoming a character animator. |
September 2009 | Jameson & MaryBeth join his family for a vacation in Maine, where they have a chance to visit Stephen King’s house, kayak in the ocean, and sleep under 40 pounds of blankets. |
March 2010 | MaryBeth travels west of Texas for the first time in her life, as she joins Jameson on a trip to California for the Oscar party and a thrilling tour of Industrial Light & Magic. |
April 2010 | Unable to wait any longer, a lovestruck Jameson proposes marriage to MaryBeth! Two days later, MaryBeth actually believes it has happened. |
October 2010 | Jameson & MaryBeth have a blast attending the Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear in Washington, D.C. |
December 2010 | Jameson accompanies MaryBeth to Maryland for his first Evans Family Christmas. Astonishingly, even after playing with her six nieces and nephews, he returns home with no broken bones. |
June 2011 | Jameson & MaryBeth’s plans for a February, 2012 wedding must be reconfigured at the last minute when they learn that their first child will be arriving a week after the planned wedding date. |
July 2011 | Jameson & MaryBeth travel to California for Jameson’s graduation from Animation Mentor, and after a beautiful road trip along the Pacific, MaryBeth gets to see Portland, OR, for the first time. |
November 2011 | All of Jameson & MaryBeth’s favorite friends and family join them in a celebration of their marriage. |
