That's why all those mysterious things are happening!—10:31 PM

I was watching the cheap-ass rip-off clip-show version of Lost this week, just as a thing to do, and fast-forwarding through as much of it as I could once I realized they weren't going to add any new footage. I wanted to watch some of it though, especially the first half, as a recap. And, the cryptic semi-British narrator was kind of fun. Maybe he would say something interesting, or phrase things in a way that might prove enlightening. (He didn't.)

Towards the end, though, while screening footage of Jack closing the eyes of a newly deceased Boone, the narrator asked, "What if you failed and lost your faith?" (And if I'm ruining the Boone thing for you, you obviously haven't seen the giant splash cover of "EW" from that week!) Anyway, as this was happening, I noticed something – I don't know if they were slipping this in as a hint, but I think it explains a lot.

You see? The reason for all the craziness on the island, the reason that Jack hasn't really managed to save any of the lives he's tried to – he's not really a doctor, he's faith healer Tor Eckman from the early years of Seinfeld! So, you heard it here first: that's where they'll be taking us for the final three episodes before the cliffhanger, where he turns Kate purple like an eggplant.

What I can't figure out is why ABC is putting Sopranos-sized gaps between new episodes. I guess they're waiting until sweeps, but it seems like they skipped Feb. sweeps altogether. It's very odd. So far, it's really the only show I frequently watch that does this.

Or rather, infrequently watch.

I think the reason for the outages is that it's the same number of episodes but rather than ending the season early (West Wing), starting late (Alias), or – as in the old days – sprinkling the repeats out more often (Desperate Housewives), they've adopted the "run-of-new-episodes/run-of-repeats" model. It's just another way of spreading out the episodes, and since the networks are trying to more or less do away with the concept of the traditional Sep-May season, we just have to go along for the ride (or, junk our TiVos and wait for DVD).

In this case, I think the decision of how to parcel out the episodes is tied to the structure of the show – its strengths and its weaknesses. They had to start out with a large number of fresh episodes in a row to keep the phenomenon going and introduce all the mysterious circumstances they were going to try to forget about later. Then, it only made sense to go away for a month, because they'd spent so many fresh episodes. And when they returned, it was with new mysteries and new unanswered questions, so it required another string of new episodes to lay it all out. And the cycle repeats itself.

One time me and my friends bought three new baby dolls and a few hours later my dog brought my baby doll to me with an eye missing. There was strang markings that didn't look like dog teeth. the shape on it was a vampire tooth shape. It was not deep in it. it looked like a scar of a vampire tooth. Ever since that we had the fealing of being watched over. we heared strang noises.
