Friday Night Lights—12:17 PM
We're headed out to see Friday Night Lights. I'm pretty sure I won't like it as much as I ♥ Huckabees. In fact, I'm not sure why I'm going at all, but I liked The Rundown. Besides, it's getting good notices, and it's nice to have weekend plans with friends.
What really confuses me, though, is that the football players appear to be holding hands on the poster.
I thought it was supposed to be a big macho football movie. (Again, why am I seeing this?) I don't have any problem with the fellas holding hands if they want, but it doesn't seem very macho-footballish. Guys holding hands seems more like Goonies or The Broken Hearts Club.

Joe really ought to be pointing this out, not me, but football players seem to hold hands a lot these days. During the huddle, during the coin toss, etc. I think it's officially a "team bonding" thing, and I think, unofficially, that those of my classmates who study queer theory would have a few things to say about the homoeroticism (which, by the way, is different than homosexuality) of football.
Either way, I think it's appealing, and, strangely, I even think it's manly. In the sense of "we're men enough to hold hands and not care that snotty literature students will theorize about homoeroticism in our sport."
Put another way, it's way MORE endearing and manly than attending zany stripper parties for the new recruits and then assaulting women and getting away with it.

Yeah, to YOU.
Seriously, folks; Jameson has been wondering about this for a while, and, I have to say, I don't know. But I didn't play sports beyond junior high, and I have a thing about dudes touching me in the first place (not an anti-gay thing by any means; just an anti-dudes-touching-me thing), so, I'm probably not the guy to ask.
