Jesus God, that was fast!—10:15 AM
Fox Pulls Wonderfalls [TimMinear.net]
This is absurd! Fox really owed this series more of a chance. I liked it way more than I thought I would, critics seemed impressed too, and it was really going somewhere with a unique and interesting voice. I'm really disappointed, here. (TiVo, it should be noted, is not. Fewer Thursday night conflicts really ease his anxiety. Selfish little SOB.)

Yep, this was some crappy news, all right. It's upsetting how many promising scifi/fantasy shows get trashed these days. I don't know how I'm going to survive without any Joss Whedon fixes next year, alas. I can only pray that the "Angel" fans succeed in resurrecting the show, and that the "Firefly" movie's box office results make Fox weep and gnash its teeth... and then start the series up again.
Because "Firefly" was going to be the greatest thing ever, given time.
Only bright spot in all this frustration: the dedicated "Farscape" fans have won a four-hour miniseries from the SciFi Channel, which cancelled the show a year and a half ago. Everyone agrees that the miniseries wouldn't have happened if the fans hadn't raised their voices.
So write a letter. You never know...

True, true. I remember liking Firefly too (although not as much as a true sci-fi aficionado could) and I've been peripherally aware of the ongoing story with its fan petitions, etc. I didn't realize it was headed for the big screen, though – sort of a reverse-Buffy. I'm really shocked that Fox is still so trigger-happy after pulling so many shows that managed to outlive the decision based on such impressive viewer response.

Speaking of "that was fast"... I solemnly avow that it's pure coincidence that my comments-in-reply come so close on the heels of incoming comments. Really. I'm not just sitting at a web browser all day, hitting Refresh on the comments listing. I promise!
