Tropey as hell, but delivers the goods enough that it earns its affectations. In this way, it’s similar to The Rock: too damn satisfying to pick it apart. Kudos to Tony Scott for finding a way to use Dutch angles nonstop, but have it totally justified by the story. (It goes without saying, but the interplay between Hackman and Washington is electric, even in the quieter, early scenes.)
