I like the way the story unfolds in a way that you don’t see as often from today’s movies, and of course Douglas is a kick to watch. Like A Face in the Crowd it’s got a subversive edge that feels a bit ahead of its time in its commentary on media and culture. (Especially following directly after Sunset Boulevard!) Jan Sterling plays the “mouthy noir broad” as well as the best of them.
