Mikey Madison is simply outstanding, and Baker’s script is tender, empathetic, and even strangely empowering in its assessment of Ani as a person and how she defines and embodies herself. He manages to make sex and partying seem passionless and insipid without any obvious directorial cues. The final scene is an absolute knockout punch.
