I’m not sold on the idea that this story called for a non-linear approach. The narrative energy feels choppy and interrupted, which is already a challenge compressing decades of history into a single film—at three hours, it feels like this should have flowed more smoothly. The visuals are fantastic, the deep cast delivers great work, and Göransson and Van Hoytema are impeccable as always. Nolan is a master storyteller; his predilection for twisted timelines led him astray here.
