A moving study of a heartbreaking and beautiful personality, with excellent performances from Sink, Chau, and especially Fraser (highly deserving of the awards attention he’s been getting). It definitely caused me to reflect on my relationship with solitude. The controversy about his portrayal surprises me—I felt it was a very affectionate characterization, and a genuine, unfiltered view of a specific lifestyle. (And I am not one to rush to Aronofsky’s defense.)
