The premise is inspired (and sets up a fertile context to keep the Christmas Carol message relevant), and Ferrell and Reynolds bring snappy comic energy. It’s heartfelt and family-friendly with solid dramatic moments, and while some of its great songs aren’t all that memorable outside of their scenes, the few that break through are so fantastic that I haven’t stopped humming them.
