There’s no narrative structure to speak of—mostly a series of gags and Shrek-style pop culture references, plus some effects that were impressive for their era and hold up pretty well. It feels like the script was being written as they went along, possibly in a rush to get film in the can so the effects work could start. Pullman does his best with a character that doesn’t make a lot of sense.
