This film could probably do with a little less story; it’s at its best when it’s quietly contemplating its lead character, with its appealingly warm, handmade aesthetic. The concept is undeniably original, and Cage is in top form. Watching him, I’m reminded that I never dislike his performances, only his inability to pass on a script, no matter how bad. Here’s hoping for a few more great ones.
