Tierney has a very severe look, and a delivery that’s hard to warm to, but she creates a compelling character within a story that’s somewhat bound by the conventions of its era. Wilde sounds like he’s reading everything off of cue cards, for the very first time. Still, the story held my interest, even with its awkward tone and uneven rhythm.
