I really wanted to like this, because of its fine cast, and its new direction. (Also, lamentably, because it’s another target of the bizarre “anti-woke” mob—something that shouldn’t be a reason to like a movie, mainly because it’s something that shouldn’t exist in the first place.) However, the large ensemble prevents much depth for the characters, and most of the story mechanics seem awkward or self-contradictory. On top of that, it’s 45 minutes longer than it should be—something’s gotta give.
