The elevator pitch doesn’t do this film justice. It creates great characters and mines a lot from a fish-out-of-water setup that might seem tired. Coogan and Rudd are terrific (Rudd’s physical transformation is minor, but makes such an impact), and McDorman is the perfect choice to keep it from being too one-sided. It falls woefully short of its potential at times, but there’s more here than meets the eye.
