The pacing isn’t great, but there’s no shortage of tension and the performances are quite good. It holds itself at arm’s length a bit more than it should—many of its ambiguities help make it work, but too often it feels downright bewildering, which makes it hard to get the point. It’s a fascinating idea to explore; I think with a little more development, this film could have mined more from it.
