Martin’s style is always enjoyable, and the film cleverly alternates between the use of his illustrations and comedy set pieces to communicate his character’s internal state. The pacing and cinematography are nice, and it’s a delight to watch Kline and Steenburgen together, but it’s a shame he felt like he had to make all of the characters kinda unlikable except for himself and his female lead.
