There’s a lot to praise in this film, but damn it’s just good to see Charles Grodin again—in just a few scenes, he practically steals the movie. The performances are great and Baumbach does a nice job depicting three very different couples in a way that makes its point about them without rendering judgment. I’ve been slow to embrace Baumbach fully, but this one gets me closer—perhaps because he gently skewers the type of people I always worried he was.
