Really fine work from Sam Rockwell—taking a character who’s solidly in his wheelhouse through a transformation that makes him a little softer and less glib. Moretz, Garlin, and Knightley deliver, too. Overall, the script and its protagonist could use a little more appeal, but Shelton lends it personal touches that make it pretty rewarding.
