It’s an interesting experiment: haphazardly blend tropes from the Terminator and Matrix films into a script, Kickstart a bare-bones shoot in the woods with terrible actors, and add bargain CG effects that look just professional enough for someone to want to release it. Then rope in a known actor who’s almost as unchoosy about his scripts as Nic Cage, shoot a bunch of scenes with him talking about the kids in the woods, and you’re off to the races. It may not surprise you to learn that the result makes zero sense, has an invented conflict that evaporates when inconvenient, and everyone (even Cusack) is laughably bad in it.
