Newman charms with his ability to adopt a look of dispassionate contemplation, but despite some great chase footage and remarkable widescreen vistas, the film fails to establish any logic or stakes, and ends up playing mostly like a Cannonball Run stripped of the yuks. It’s weirdly episodic, and the pacing refuses to maintain any urgency.
