The storybook style and stylized acting don’t quite fit the tone of this semi-supernatural psychological thriller, but then most of the choices are wrong—when in doubt, the filmmakers rely on extremely familiar clichés. Oliver Platt never disappoints, though, and here he delivers an enjoyable and very relaxed performance. The others (fine actors in some cases) are confused and inconsistent, but so is the unfocused, meandering script they’re working from.
