Bassett turns in an electric performance that anchors the emotional story, but Fishburne never manages to elevate Ike above a slimy, unidimensional monster. The script struggles to condense a complex, 20-year relationship, and the result is a jarring, unfocused mishmash of rock medleys and savage violence.
