Hailee Steinfeld is great—she always brings a natural charm to anything she’s in, and her interplay with Adlon creates a grounding humanity long absent from the Transformers franchise. It’s a shame they decided to tie in to the rest of the series’s continuity, since they got so many things right that the other movies have bungled, but it winds its inevitable course toward the same absurd huge military battle (just somehow not huge enough that LaBeouf ever heard about it).
