Dragged down at times by an overemphasis on setting up sassy southern ladies with endless wisecracking bons mots, overly dramatic in moments, but very strong depicting friendships that last a lifetime, for better or worse. Plus a jaw-dropping Sally Field scene that should’ve gotten much more attention.
