I can't help it, the spectacle of Cameron's Titanic wowed me, and created a lasting fascination with the events of its sinking. This film dramatizes Walter Lord's essential book quite well, with a mix of humor and character, and a story line that—while less emotionally captivating than Jack & Rose—is also less absurd. Kenneth More and Michael Goodliffe in particular deliver a resolute dignity that uplifts the film. And the effects are impressive and detailed even if they are less convincing than the modern approach.
