Having only known the franchise from its ridiculous sequels, I had no idea the originating film was so political and character driven. (Relatively, of course.) The conflict could’ve begun with more subtlety, but Dennehy is great at playing ruthless assholes, and the story is strong and taut from that point on. Excellent use of the woodsy environment, too.
