I’m thrilled (and a little surprised) that this film holds up so well to my memory of it. It’s not subtle, but it stitches great characters and a sharp, kinetic plot into its extraordinary premise very neatly—each supporting the other, so it feels like a natural fit. Each of its stories works well, but connecting them so that there are moments of real urgency across a 30-year time span is impressive, indeed.
