In typical DreamWorks fashion, the story doesn’t quite fit together, and it’s all musical interludes and pop-culture references (casting Baldwin seems mainly to set up the “cookies are for closers” line). The animation and energy are great (there’s an interesting decision to blend different styles when depicting the world of Tim’s imagination), but the character designs are still a lot less appealing than what we get from Pixar and Illumination.
