Branagh’s Poirot is charming and entertaining, and he’s assembled a fantastic cast who each get a chance to showcase some fine work—Pfeiffer especially. Aside from some regrettable “modern” visual flourishes, the film manages to tell an engaging dramatic story so well that it almost overcomes Christie’s absurd denouement.
