There’s an interesting core idea here, and the visuals and environments are fantastic, but it’s hard to understand why this is considered a great film. As he often does, Ridley Scott devotes more time to gawking at a weird (and imaginative) environment and mulling big ideas than he does to building any sort of narrative momentum.
