I admire the narrative idea, and I’ll definitely be watching the rest of the trilogy, but I didn’t feel as invested in the characters or their chemistry as I’d hoped to. But pretty much everything was forgiven in the last five minutes: a brilliant, wordless montage that catapulted a fairly interesting talky movie into a memorable examination of life’s impermanence.
