It’s a winning premise and of course an excellent cast. The script isn’t groundbreaking, and it won’t surprise you by leaving out a few of the oldster gags you’re dreading. A more biting look at some of the issues involved would’ve been more satisfying, but it’s cheery, clever, and heartfelt (maybe a little too much at times, but nobody ever accused Johnny Scrubs of being unsentimental).
