Quite an impressive directing turn from Tyldum, whose more recent Hollywood fare has been entertaining but lacking much of a unique style. Jo Nesbø’s plots are always tightly designed, and this one is particularly gripping. Excellent style and pacing, building tension in surprising ways, plus the added challenge of presenting a less-than-likable protagonist and getting us to root for him.
