Twelve hours later, it’s still a little challenging to sum this one up. Its conceptual, anti-narrative style feels at times pretentiously opaque, but it accomplishes things visually that I wouldn’t have thought possible (a category I wouldn’t have thought still existed). Certain aspects represent the purest form of the cinematic art: things no other storytelling medium can do. It’s inscrutable, unsettling, and fascinating—at turns gruesome and beautiful—I don’t know what to make of it.
