Powerful and affecting drama, with the gritty, awful reality of the disaster well visualized. Contains the sort of preposterous leaps that I find especially frustrating in "based on true" stories because I end up distracted by curiosity about how where the fictionalizations end. (Which curiosity is not well satisfied when the film ends with a photo of the Spanish family whose story it is. I suppose the Spanish crew couldn't track down any actors less white than Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor.)
