The script is a little disjointed, though it’s mostly smoothed over by its nonstop momentum. Chris Rock’s directorial choices are strong and stylish (especially the sound mix, which contains surprisingly specific choices for a comedy). There are some good laughs, but the performances feel stiff overall—the few scenes where Rock is really in his element show just how unnatural the rest of the moments are.
