Secret in Their Eyes

A very powerful performance from Julia Roberts (and really everyone in this fine cast), and a compelling, thoughtful plot. Ultimately, the director (or more likely his studio) blinked rather than let the audience accept the material unspoonfed. Which is a shame, but, these days, not a surprise.
