Visually stunning, and a tremendous expansion on the world of the original. The result is a familiar but regrettable swelling cast of characters, plus a somewhat disjointed narrative rhythm as the film hops between its spectacle, its emotional beats, and its core conflict. It holds together, mostly, but makes a few grandiose moves it needn't.
