I'd hoped Favreau would withstand the sequel doldrums better, considering his amazing performance with part one, but it's a whole different kettle of fish once the giddy fun of the origin story is behind you – as many others (except Pixar) have proved. Still, aside from a video-game battle sequence, it's better than word-of-mouth would have you believe.
