Excellent performances, especially Michael Lerner and a dazzling, unique turn from John Mahoney, but try as I might I just never manage to “get” this one. The commitment to its distinct style is admirable, but I feel like there’s never a moment where I can plant my feet and get a solid idea of what I’m watching.
