It examines the ideas of predestination and inevitability in some interesting discussions, and I was always impressed by the city that Spielberg’s think tank of futurists designed (though annoyed they couldn’t avoid the tired trope of making all viewscreens see-through for some reason). It’s easy to see how Spielberg was lured in by a character whose job is to splice together a narrative from the precogs’ disparate clips, but I don’t know if this was the right project for him. The cinematography is way overcooked, the tone is uneven, and the ending is dreadfully slow.
