This was the first battleground for DreamWorks and Pixar: Antz and A Bug's Life. Whether it was truly espionage or just a coincidence (after toys, arthropods would be the next logical choice given the constraints of CG at the time), they went head-to-head. For the first, last, and only time, I felt DreamWorks won. Antz was a little more clever, had better performances, and a story that grabbed me more. (It helped that DreamWorks's penchant for packing the entire cast with huge names hadn't worn thin yet.)
